This listing is persons believed to be interred in the Old City Cemetery,
Jerseyville, now referred to as Hickory Grove Cemetery. NOTE: These are
"BELIEVED" to be buried there, there are no stones remaining. The
Historical Society will be putting up a monument where this cemetery once
stood, possibly by Memorial Day or the 4th of July 2000. Names of ones
proven to be buried there will be put on the monument. Hickory Grove was
the name chosen for this cemetery as the first settlement here was Hickory
Grove later to be called Jerseyville.
