Jersey was formed in 1839 from Greene which in turn was formed from Madison
in 1821. In time era 1812-1821 records would be found in Madison. Before
1818 it was Illinois Territory, St. Clair County. See timeline page for
before that time era.

Did you go to BLM site on the web? This might give you a parcel number. It
has been awhile since I have been there, so can't remember. There is a
link on the Township page:

for BLM or GLO:

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/

Otherwise, depending on the year involved, you would contact that Recorder
of Deeds in that County for further information.
