I cannot identify all the Hill families you listed, but some are members of
our family. I have a photocopy of the births-marriages-deaths pages of an
old Hill family Bible that, apparently, belonged to Ellen Hill Updike. The
Bible was destroyed, and the family record pages saved. They are now in
possession of a cousin who lives in East Tennessee.
This Hill family came to Jersey County from Mercer County, New Jersey, in
1859. The entries on the family record pages are as follows.
Births
William Hill, Nov. 17, 1781 (Father in this family.)
Sarah Lee, wife of William Hill, was born April 18, 1783 (Mother in this
family.)
Elizabeth Hill (wife of James McMillan), January 16, 1803
Joseph Hill, April 25, 1804
David B. Hill, December 30, 1805
Smith Hill, September 30, 1807
William N. Hill, August 22, 1810
Theodore L. Hill, January 16, 1812
Mary Hill (wife of Smith Post) was born May 28, 1815
Ellen Hill (wife of Theodore Updike), March 31, 1818
Henry Hill, October 14, 1820
Died
Joseph Hill, May 25, 1804
William Hilll, September 6, 1836. (This is the father of the children listed
above.)
Elizabeth McMillan, June 25, 1845
Henry Hill, May 15, 1850
Sarah Hill, November 13, 1870 (This is the mother of the children listed
above.)
Births
David B. Hill, December 30, 1805
Smith Hill, September 30, 1807
William N. Hill, August 22, 1810
Theodore L. Hill, January 16, 1812
Mary Hill, May 28, 1815
Ellen Hill, March 31, 1818
Henry Hill, October 14, 1820
Theodore and Ellen Hill Updike, listed above, were my great grandparents.
Theodore Updike died 19 January 1888, Jersey County, Illinois, and is buried
at Oak Grove. Ellen Hill Updike died 14 October 1889, Jersey County,
Illinois, and is buried at Oak Grove Cemetery beside Theodore Updike.
Unfortunately, this is all the information I have on this Hill family, but I
hope it helps. If you connect with this line, I would like to hear from you.
Regards.
