I have a John Carroll who was born in Ireland in 1774. He married Mary
Rafter in Kilkenny in 1797, had a daughter Catherine there in 1798. I believe
Mary Rafter Carroll died in Ireland. John Carroll and his daughter Catherine
came to the US and settled in Hoboken, NJ, in 1798. Catherine Carroll married
John Russell Whipple in Canton, OH (where they settled), in 1819. Two of
John Carroll's Whipple grandsons went to Jersey Co., IL, maybe around 1850-60.
One "resided in Jerseyville and married cousin Julia Cummings." I believe
John Carroll died in IL. In the light of your posts, I think it likely,
for numerous reasons, that this John Carroll was Mrs. Mary Carroll's husband.
