Further study on my part leads me to believe, no written proof yet, that
Hugh Hughes, my ancestor's given name was really James Hughes and went by
the name of "Hugh" Hughes. Reason for believe, John C. and Sarah had two
sons and one daughter. Charles being the received his name from John C.'s
father, Charles Crull. Second, James Lewis Crull, receiving his name from
James Hughes, or "Hugh" Hughes. 3rd child, Mary Celonia Crull, receiving
hers from her grandmother Mary Spangle Hughes.
Again only speculation but one would or could say it gives great credence to
the thought.

The will of Henry Spangle or Spangler, proven 29 Apr 1819 in Scioto
Co., OH, [Willbook A, p. 54, FHL film #292,723] lists his wife Susannah and
children:

I found a reference to Henry Spangler in Rhineland Emigrants: Lists of
German Settlers in Colonial America, by Don Yoder (can't read my notes it is
either p. 7 or p. 170). It says Henry Spangler arrive in Pennsylvania in
1732. Don't know if it's the same Henry Spangler.

Marriage info from "Marriage Records of Scioto County, OH 1803-1860,"
Shoemaker and Rudity, Genealogy Publishing Co., Inc., Baltimore, 1897, FHL
977.187/V28s; Jersey Co., IL Marriage index FHL film 1,317,903.

Keziah Kelly, wife of Henry Hughes, was possibly the daughter of James Kelly
and Anna Hill or New Castle, Delaware. They also had a son Elias. I haven't
had an opportunity to pursue this line further.
