Hi "Jo Daviess" Folks,

Recent discussiion of immigrants to Jo Daviess from Massbach, Bavaria
reminds me to mention a book I was surprised to find in the Cleveland,
Ohio, area library catalog when doing a subject search on Jo Daviess.
It is a photo essay by Archie Lieberman entitled "Farm Boy" which
follows the Willis Hammer family and their farm in Scales Mound from
about 1954-74. The Massbach connection is found in the photo of the
family cemetery with a tombstone in the foreground of Catharine D.
Hammer, born in Massbach, Bayern (it's in German.) So someone from
Massbach wound up on the north side of the county as well as down in
Derinda Twp.
