The old cemetery in Galena is actually what used to be the Old City
Cemetery. It was closed a while ago and burials moved to other area
cemeteries. I suggest contacting Steve Repp at the Special Collections
dept. at the Galena Library. He's really helpful and probably can give you
some idea of where many of the burials went. This dept. has lots of
historical and genealogical info on Galena area families etc.

Subject: Old cemetary
Hi,
In my genealogy search I have found a reference to a person buried in the
"old Cemetary in Galena. His Name is Simon H. Grant. His name was listed on
the city sexton Interment report for september 15, to September 29th.
1846.Does anyone know where this cemetary is located and, if there are any
records that still exist? Any information would be appreciated. I have
been looking for this individual for 10 years. I would love to verify if
this is in fact him.
Thank you for any help with this matter.
Kathy Kelley
