Hi Mara,
Sorry it took so long to answer. I looked in a little Emerson history book
that I have and found some info. on your Elizabeth Howell who mar. an Emerson.
He was my gr-grandfather's older brother. Here is what it says:

"Henry Harvey EMERSON, son of James Emerson and Susannah McDANIELS, was born
12 Jun 1820 in Tennessee, and before Dec 1843, married Elizabeth C. HOWELL who
was born 22 Nov 1825 in Kentucky. Henry Harvey died on 10 Sep 1902 at Poplar
Bluff, Butler County, Missouri and was buried at Black Creek Cem., Butler Co.
MO. Elizabeth C. died on 2 Mar 1909 at Poplar Bluff, Butler County, Missouri
and was buried on 3 Mar 1909 at Black Creek Cem., Butler County, Missouri.
Their children:
Martha Jane Emerson, b 30 Dec 1843; d. 7 Jun 1903; mar. Marion Wilson HELM
James D. Emerson, b. 13 Nov 1844; d. 22 Sep 1865
John W. Emerson, b. 28 Jun 1848; d. 10 Jan 1925; mar. Margaret A. WILBORN
Susanna C. Emerson, b. Oct 1850; d. 11 Nov 1918; mar. John Allen STATON
Benjamin Frank Emerson, b. 11 Mar 1854; d. 14 Feb 1942; mar. Eliza Ann HUDGENS
Margaret E. Emerson, b. Mar 1857; mar. Luke L. STATON
Brilla Ann Emerson, b. 18 Apr 1860; d. 19 Jun 1913; mar. Wm. Henderson SIMMONS
Mary Ellen Emerson, b. 7 Nov 1864; d. 2 Apr 1919; mar. John P. PORTER
Henry Willis Alexander Emerson, b. 23 Jan 1867; d. 4 Apr 1952; mar. Martha
Elzira WILSON.
Most of the family are buried at the Black Creek Cem. in Poplar Bluff.
There is quite a lot of detail on each family if you would like to know more.
It's ironic that this line of Emersons is the most detailed in the whole book.
There is very little on my ancestor.
This info. comes from: DESCENDANTS OF JAMES EMERSON OF JOHNSON COUNTY
ILLINOIS
compiled by B. A. Morris of Chanute, KS.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you want more details on any of these people.
