I am researching my father's family. My Dad was WILLIAM THOMAS PIERCE,
b. September 12, 1894 in Johnson County, IL., born to JOEL GREENE
PIERCE, b. Oct. 12, 1868 probably in Union County, and JOSEPHINE BURNS
PIERCE, probably born in Johnson County to ROY BURNS and ELIZABETH
KELLEY BURNS. Joel Greene was son of THOMAS JEFFERSON PIERCE and MAHILA
C. ESCUE PIERCE. There were two other sons, FRANK and WILLIAM A.

Thomas Jefferson's military record from Civil War states he joined from
Union County, IL. Joel Greene and Josephine were married Oct. 8, 1893
in Johnson County.

Josephine died from spinal meningitis in June, 1899. Joel brought his
two sons, William Thomas, age 5, and Guy Franklin, age 3, to Texas,
arriving on January 1, 1900. Several years ago I visited Josephine's
gravesite located close to Goreville, Ill. On a later trip I was unable
to find the cemetery but remember it being located next to a white frame
church building and very well kept. I would appreciate any leads on my
family.
