WOW You have been a TREMENDOUS help....Thank You!!!! This gives me a lot of
info to follow through on...
My gggrandfather is listed here as Addison (full name is Simeon Addison) and
shows additional siblings. Dr. Thomas (whom she lists as middle name of
Benton) and his wives are listed, and confirmed by my records. It then links
the next 2 generations! Back to the "founder" of Goreville, John Gore... and
lists other possible sites of residing and a possible birth site for John.
Really helpful info!
I am a little uncertain of the connection between the John W (married to
Helen) listed at the bottom... is she possibly saying that the earlier John
and the John W are the same people? She lists Helen's death date as 1853. I
received some additonal info recently on a John W Gore (whose mother or
daughter was named Sarah) He was supposedly married in 1819 to Eleanor Seely
(born in Chester Co, SC 1780-1840)
The info on the General Store is interesting... most of my info on this branch
of my tree comes from word-of-mouth from my Greatgrandfather's sister. She
said that she remembered going to Dr. T B Gore's father's general store many
times when she was a small child. She later painted the store from memory
(rather crude, but interesting). I have a photo of the painting. Interesting
links to this history! I will now have to see if a photo exists somewhere of
the original general store.
THANKS again for all your help. If I can be of help to you, please let me
know.
Pam Gore
