Terry,
OK, I better correct myself here. I just looked in my Cemeteries of
Simpson Township and it says "The division of Johnson Co into
townships began early in the county's history." It continues on to say
"In 1872, the county was divided into nine townships with that
division continuing until the present time. Those nine townships are
as follows:"
Bloomfield Township 12 Range 3
Burnside T 11 R 4
Cache T 13 R2
(Lower Cache)T14 R2
Elvira T12 R2
Goreville T11 R2
Grantsburg T13 R4
Simpson T12 R4
Tunnel Hill T11 R3
Vienna T13 R3
As you can see there are 3 townships in 12, you need to see what Range
the property was in also to find out which township it is in. My gg
grandfathers was in Township 12 Range 4. Your's would be in either
Simpson, Bloomfield or Elvira.
