Dear Joyce
I lookd in the cemetery books for Johnson Co., IL, I don't have them all,
but no Mt. Hebron Cemetery.....I looked in my Union Co. Cem. book, Vol
II.....on page 170 Mt. Hebron Cem. is listed......It says, Mt. Hebron
Cem. Sec 13, Twp 11 south, range 1 east
The cemetery is located adjacent to Mt Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian
Church in northern Union Co. It was transcribed by Darrel Dexter on 6
Dac 1996, and 21 Sep 1997
it includeds several Escue and Coleman names. One note is interesting,
Absalom W. Coleman, 29 Jan. 1823 - 2 Jul 1891
Martha J. Colman wife - 22 Jan 1825 - 28 Nov 1993
then it gives their children then
Absalom William Coleman, first son of Marshall and Ruth, died in a log
wagon accident while carrying timber for the erection a new house of
worship for Mount Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Marshall Coleman died 25 May 1885, age 86y 1m 9d, Servant of God well
done. Rest from thy loved employ. The battle is over the victory won.
Enter thy Saviour's joy..
Marshall & Ruth, in honored memory by their descendants, 1994. They gave
this land in 1875 for the worship of God and the resting place of their
family and community, Mount Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church and
Cemetery.
There is more, I'll copy the information and send it snail mail if you
want me to. You could buy this book, Union County, Illinois Cemeteries
Vol. II This was published
by THE GENEALOGY SOCIETY OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS c/o John A. Logan College
700 Logan College Road, Carterville, IL 62918-9599
It's compiled by Darrel Dexter, and I can recommend him very highly -
very reliable.
I'm sorry I don't know the price....he has published over 15 books about
southern IL, mostly Union Co.
Hope this helps, Louise Erekson
