Vivien:
I have just now looked at the published records of
these marriages. It first lists FISHER, Obediah to
HARDY, Mary M. 17 Oct 1867
below that is:
MECENHAMMER, Thomas (ML) HARDY, Mary M. ML:14 Oct
1867
FISHER, Obediah (MR) HARDY, Mary M. MR:15 Oct
1867
ML = Marriage License MR = Marriage return.
It looks like she had a license for one but married
the other.
That's all I can tell from the book, maybe someone
else in the family knows what really happened.
The 1870 Census for Johnson County listed on p. 229
FISHER, Obe 25 M Farmer 500 100 IL
Mary 20 F K.H. IL
JOhn 6/12 M IL
It seems she went with Obe and not Tom.
Good Luck!
