Thank you to all who responded to my question. I appreciate your time
and help. It seems that there are not birth certificates available at
the Courthouse at that early date. However, I was told that someone
had gone personally to Illinois and had been able to obtain a copy of
the birth certificate. I guess I need to find the person who supposedly
has the copy of the certificate. Does anyone on this list know if there
are other places where a birth certificate at this early date might be
found?

I would like to obtain a copy of my GGgrandmother's birth certificate.
Her birth was recorded in Vienna, Johnson Co IL. in the year 1827. Is
there a way to obtain a copy of this certificate without going to the
Courthouse in person? If anyone has a phone number to call for a
request or other ideas, it would be very much appreciated
