Some research aides on the above family:

1860 Johnson County, IL census

Johns, Francis, 1800, VA
Johns, Mary, 1800, NC
Johns, Louisa, daughter, 1834, IL
Johns, F. M., son, 1838, IL
Johns, Thomas H., son, 1841, MO
Johns, Peter, son, 1847, IL
Johns, Mary, daughter, 1848, IL

1870 Cedar Bluff, Johnson County, IL census:

Johns, Felix, 1801, TN (?)
Johns, Amanda, wife, 1822, TN
Casson, Joseph, 14, IL
Oliver, Margaret, 11, IL

Mary must have died between 1860 and 1869 because Felix marries Amanda Oliver in Johnson County on 8/19/1869. I assume the two children listed above are hers by prior marriages.

1870 Cedar Bluff, Johnson County, IL census:

Johns, Thomas, 28, MO
Johns, Margaret, 27, TN
Johns, Mary, 6, IL
Johns, Thomas, 3, IL
Johns, James, 1, IL
Haney, Sarah, 14, KY
Haney, John, 12, KY
Haney, Frank, 10, KY

This is where it gets confusing...
1880 Tunnel Hill, Johnson County, IL census:

Johns, Thomas, head, 38, MO
Johns, Lizabeth, wife, 36, TN
Johns, Mary, daughter, 16, IL
Johns, Elvary (sic), daughter, IL
Johns, Thomas, son, 13, IL
Johns, Milton, son, 12, IL
Johns, Jasper, son, 10, IL
Johns, James, son, 9, IL
Johns, Peter, son, 7, IL
Johns, Albert, son, 6, IL
Johns, John, son, 4, IL
Johns, Caroline, daughter, 2, IL

There is a Thomas Johns who married Elizabeth McBride on 12/9/1875 in Williamson County, IL. I think that Margaret and Lizabeth both noted in the census data above are the same person as the date of birth and birthplace are the same. Perhaps her name is Margaret Elizabeth McBride. The part that confuses me are the children. Mary, Thomas and James listed on the 1870 census make sense in age. But now there are other children IN BETWEEN that were not listed on the 1870 census??? Maybe some of these were the wife's from a previous marriage; however, it's convenient that they all fall at different ages???

1900 Tunnel Hill, Johnson County, IL census:

Johns, Thomas, 6/1841, MO, married 12 yrs.
Johns, Francis, 1859, IL, married 12 yrs., 3 children, 1 living
Johns, Caroline, daughter, 12/1878, IL
Johns, Marshall, son, 4/1882, IL
Johns, Vandalia, daughter, 5/1891, IL

Thomas Johns married Francis Ridenhower on 10/9/1887 in Johnson County, IL. Evidentally his first wife died between 1882 and 1887 and Vandalia is a child of Thomas and his second wife, Francis.

Living next door on this census:

Johns, Albert, head, 4/1874, IL, married 4 yrs.
Johns, Florence, wife, 2/1878, married 4 yrs, 4 children/2 living
Johns, Thomas, son, 5/1896, IL
Johns, Arlie, son, 5/1900, IL

I found a little bit on one other child of Felix and Mary's. In the 1880 Tunnel Hill, Johnson County, Il census:

Johns, Peter, head, 32, IL
Johns, Sinthia, wife, 42, IL
Johns, William, son, 24, IL
Johns, Mary, daughter, 19, IL
Johns, John, son, 16, IL
Johns, Violia, daughter, 11, IL
Johns, Sarah, daughter, 9, IL
Johns, Lucretia (sic), daughter, 7, IL
Johns, Willis, son, 5, IL
Johns, Wilfred, son, 3, IL
Johns, Charles, son, 1, IL

This is a Peter Johns who marries Cynthia Johns in Williamson County, IL on 9/20/1868. So perhaps he was married before and some of these children are from Cynthia and others from his first wife. That's all I could find on them.

Hope these tidbits help!
Kim
