I found some additional information

>From the Early Settler information:

WHITNEY's from Compton came from Tompkins Co. NY in 1839
WARD's from Compton came from Genesee Co, NY in 1835
PROBERT's from Elgin came from Rochester, NY in 1843 and were of English desc.
No listing for Downey's

In one of the Military listings:
GEORGE DOWNEY of Hampshire is listed as being discharged from the 88th
Calvary Unit on 1-18-1862 (the term of service 3 years) (page 380)
