Mayfield might be a good place. This family was moving between Chicago and
Barrington over the years. I have newsclippings from the Barrington Courier
with references to family members going to "Mayfair" to visit cousin so and
so.......

The first place I would look is "Mayfield" Twp in DeKalb County. It is the
township north of DeKalb Twp where the City of DeKalb is located.

Yes, I know that Mayfield is not Mayfair...but oft times the family
tradition passes down "almost" right. Since the family was in Afton Twp,
apparently, I'd look in Mayfield before working so hard to find places all
over the world.<
