My 1940 directory has listed at 315 North Van Buren:

Prahl, Albert A., employee Haeger
Prahl, Fred (wife Bertha), a landscape gardener for Bell Barrington (Bell
could actually be a person's name and Barrington the place; there is very
little punctuation used in the directory)
Prahl, Fred Jr., employee Allied Shoe Co. in Elgin

there is another Prahl family listed at 306 Water Street (which is not very
far from N. Van Buren):
Prahl, Donald, employee Haeger
Prahl, Harold R., employee Haeger
Prahl, Otto (wife Ida L) employee Haeger
