Miss Hellen HARPER [born ca 1908], Daughter of Mr. & Mrs. W.U. HARPER
[William U. & Lenora “Nora” MOYERS HARPER ~ JFL] of Mt. Vernon, Ill. became the
bride at high noon today of Kenneth KIRKENSDALE [born ca 1906], son of Mr. &
Mrs. Owen KIRKENSDALE, of LaSalle, Ill. The marriage service which
included the single ring ceremony was read by Rev. J.B. MARTIN, Pastor of the First
Methodist Church at the Jennie Pierce Memorial Chapel in the presence of a
small company of relatives & friends. Attending the bride as maid of honor
was Miss Gertrude BROWN. While John VANTA served the groom as best man. The
bride was attractively gowned in light cocoa flat crepe trimmed with pea
green and she carried a corsage bouquet of sweet peas. Miss BROWN wore a
becoming dress of light green crepe and her corsage bouquet was of pink sweet peas.
The bride who is well known in Elgin has been employed in the train room
of the watch factory, the groom, also popular in this city has a position at
the J.C. Penney Company. Mr. & Mrs. KIRKENDALE have gone on a wedding trip
and upon their return will reside at 276 Chicago Street.
