I have a small yearbook called Souvenir with a picture of, what I assume to be
the teacher whose name was Mattie F. Foster, from the Hawcreek Township, Knox
County, Ill. school district No. 2. It is dated 1900. The school board
members were John Wolf, President; John Speer, Clerk; Mrs. Carrie Lotts,
Directress. Inside is a list of the Pupils. There are:

Floyd Bird (BURD) was my uncle, and he belonged to Ira Leonard BURD and Cora
Alma THURMAN. I thought someone on this listserv might be related to someone
at this school, and would enjoy seeing this.

There were 33 students, apparently 1st through 12th. Miss Mattie had her
hands full.
