I have traveled thru a few times (live in Galesburg)
but I LOVE stopping there during the Scenic drive the first
weekend in October. The streets are lined with cars parked,
straight, slanted and every which way.
The park on the east side of the highway is loaded with vendors selling
everything under sun. I love the old books and household items..talk about
memory lane..I specifically go
to the man who sells old year books hoping to find one I want.
Bought one for my mom one Christmas it was for her junior year.
One of the local community groups sell great chicken and noodles at the
firehouse next to the park...Until a few years
ago we throughly enjoyed the gunfight at the fire house..'
3 times during the day the actors dressed as cowboys and
saloon ladies would engage in old fashion shootem out!!
Unfortunately this was stopped due to fear of lawsuits!
A man gives pony rides..They used to have a flea market at
the old school building, it is a huge brick building, but
it is now a private residence...

There is also a llamma farm at the north edge of town that
we always enjoy stopping at...will try to take detail notes
next month when I am sure we will be stopping in again..
