I have a ancestor that worked for the Alms House but committed suicide
because of illness, and would appreciate any information. I live in Fair
Oaks CA, and have visited Galesburg the last three years searching for my
family

Hello all,
I know we have had discussions about the almshouse. Just wanted you
to know in today's Register Mail (Galesburg) Jan. 17, 2000
on page A-5 there is a 3/4 page article about it including photo.
At the end of article it says the only reminder is a stone monument marking
the burial site of former poor farm residents. My husband works at the
County home that is there today and I have seen the stone but never knew
what it was.
Thought someone might like to contact the paper if they wanted the article
or
I could photocopy if you email me.
