1878 Knox Co. History:

MCMURTRY, JAMES W.
He was born at Henderson, Knox Co. IL and is the son of honest
parents, who gave him a liberal education in the public schools
and Knox College. He is a farmer from choice, and in politics
an Independent.
He married June 1875 to Nannie Henderson, one daughter being
the fruit of the union.
