COPLEY, JOSEPH H.
A son of Joseph and Mary Copley of Connecticut, he wasborn at Harpers-
field, Delaware Co. NY, on Jan. 9. 1814, and educated in the common
schools of New York. He was raised on a farm, but learned the tanner's
trade, which proved unsuccessful, and then changed to farming, which
he follows at present.
he has represented Victoria Twp. in the Board of Supervisors for
four years, and has held all the minor town offices. He was School
Director for fourteen years, and Captain of Militia. He came to
this county in 1856. He married Ruth Ann HINMAN on Mar. 6, 1848.
They have five children living: three girls and two of boys, and one
son who died.
He is a member of the M. E. Church and joined in 1852, and has
served as Class Leader. He is a Republican. P.O. Altoona.
