We are looking for Mrs. ? Burtt. This is the only name listed for the daughter of James and Ann Norton, according to a article written for Ann on June 16, 1899. After Ann lost James in 1874, she lived on the Norton farm (known as the Center Point farm before James Norton purchase the farm outside of Galesburg,ILL) for ten more years, than she moved in with Mrs. Burtt and her family in Galesburg. Mrs. Burtt is one of ten children.
Mrs. Burtt's Father was James Norton and James married Ann Dolan (Ann's father was Timoth Dolan), in 1835. They were both born in Roscommon County, Ireland. James and Ann arrived in America in 1848, with six children and settled in Lebanon Springs, New York, for ten years; then they moved to Galesburg, Illinois.
Siblings: Mrs. Burtt, Galesburg, ILL; Mrs. Edward Ryan, Beaver Crossing, NE; Matthew Norton, Galesburg, ILL; James C. Norton, (b. Nov. 15, 1847, in Roscommon, IRE), DeWitt and Crete, NE; Charles Norton (b. 1854, N.Y.), North Dakota; Patrick Norton; Delia Norton; Kate (Katherine) Norton (Mrs. D.W. Flynn), b. 1850 in N.Y.; John Norton
The children names listed on the 1860 Knox County, Illinois census are: Marttiese(?) 23, female; Balassases(??) 21, female; Marice 18, female; James 13; Katherine 10, Charles 6; Louise 2
The script was hard to read, so we recorded the names the best that we could. Some names were more clear than others.
