Thank you for your recent reply. As my original message was posted some time ago, I have since located much more info than I had then. My husband (who is descended from Julia Ann Grant) and I have been to Galva and La Fayette, IL to visit the cemeteries, etc. there. It's always nice to "meet" new relatives. I did find a wealth of info at "Familysearch.com"; including U.S. Grant which explains why my husband's aunt had a portrait of him. Thank you for writing and I hope we remain in touch.
