My name is Shireen Duke. Within the past 30 days, I've learned my family roots originate in Galesburg IL. I'm relatively new to genealogy search, so I'm hoping to get advise and information. I've accumulated historical information, and now want to bring it forward. The 1880, 1900, and 1920 census were helpful. So far, I haven't had access to the 1930 census.

I am of African American descent; however, I've noticed the 1880 census list my ancestry as MU.

Does anyone have information on the "Duke" or "Ashby" family? At least three of the families lived on Abingdon St. I'm looking for descendents of Harry Duke and Marie Faber married 10/21/1912, Richard A. Duke and Alice Mayfield married 12/02/1885, Celia Duke and William D. Smith married 7/20/1876, Mary Duke and John Ashby married 12/21/1875, Henry P. Duke and Mary Harding married 10/07/1875 or Henry P. Duke and Sarah Searles.
