Hi "N",

Josiah and Mary were last seen on the 1900 census living with Alvin
Nelson (my gr grandfather). I'm assuming both were dead before 1910
census. Haven't proven it yet.

Wiley Nelson and his wife May (possibly Mabel Kirkpatrick) were the
witnesses for the marriage of his brother Alvin Nelson and Anna Laura
Swigert in 1899. Wiley and his wife were still in Galesburg as of the
1930 census, but he died in 1938. Alvin died in 1926 in Galesburg, and
his wife Anna died in 1937 in Galesburg. Berthaney Nelson married a Wm.
Branson in 1895. Joanna I think married a John J. Boyle, but haven't
proven it yet. George may have married an Eliza J. Stegall, as yet
unproven.

I'm really trying to find out Josiah's whereabouts before he landed in
Galesburg. I haven't found him in the 1850 census yet. I'm not sure if
he was in IL, OH, or IND. He could have been anywhere for all I know.
Also, I'm trying to find out who his parents and siblings were. I was
hopeful that Benham, Absalem, Harry/Harvey, and Josiah were all related,
and possibly brothers. This is where it all falls apart.

If anyone can help with that, I'd be much appreciative. Thanks.

Sue

I have Josiah Nelson and Mary Bowman being married Feb. 4, 1858 in Knox
Co. I have the children as George, Joan, Wiley, Alvin and Berthany. I
have no birth year for George, Joan was born Jan. 1868, Wiley was born
Dec. 1869, Alvin was born Aug 1870, and Berthany {Bertha}was born Sept.
8, 1873. Part of this family stayed in the Abingdon area, but, I don't
know where the rest went, especially Josiah and wife Mary, Joan, Wiley,
Alvin, George {I knew he was living in Monmouth, Il.}.
