I will be sure to let you know, if these letters turn up. I am convinced that they exist - somewhere - since they were so persuasive. I imagine them passing from hand to hand, in 1850 Knox County, so they may have ended up in an unexpected place.

I am just returning to Illinois microfilm of the _Knoxville Journal_ 1849-1850, that I had inter-library loaned to the Seattle Public Library, and it is a very fine weekly newspaper, just chock full of good community and family history references. I recommend it.
