Would you happen to have a John McDowell in your history? There were McDowell's in Copley Township and in the three history books I have on Knox county, IL there is a John but no mathew. Could be he was related and why he came here. I live in the same county and we have a corners that is called McDowell's corners at RT 167 and the Appleton Blacktop meets, At one time the whole section was owned by the McDowell Family. Will print off you info later as I am going to head for the Galesburg Library in a couple of days for other researchers I have back logg to do for and will see what I can come up with. Just been loaded down with the holidays, sickness, and such.
