Lois, yes my Trompeter family did live in LaSalle county. Some stayed there, and some
moved to Brown county, KS around 1870. It was a large family, and all were decendants
of Henry Trompeter from the area of Much, Germany. One of his sons, Gerhard, is buried
at St Joseph's church cemetery. I'm a little confused about it's location, since I
thought the church was in Peru, Lasalle co, but the cemetery is in Spring Valley.
(Which would be Putnam county?) Two of Henry's sons, Frank and John Peter Trompeter,
served in the 104th IL Inf., and enlisted in Ottawa. Frank also says he served in the
61st IL Inf under an alias, William Snyder, probably because he deserted the 104th! The
Frederick Dorei I am looking for served in the 104th also.
