Hi Fred
I have been looking through my book and the Pastfinder from the LaSalle
County Genealogical Guild, I found a Philips Cemetery, I didn't know if you
knew of it's existence, although none of the people listed as buried there
look to be of the name Phillip's. This is from a list of veterans of the
53rd Regt. Ill. Vet. Volunteers Inf.. This same issue of the Pastfinder has
a Cassie B. Phillips listed in its Guardenship records for 1894.
The Guild is on line at: http://genealogy.org/~dpc
I have been a member for some months now and have been able to connect with
a few other people researching my line, you might find this helpful also.
The book "Ottawa Old and New" 1823-1914, also has the Phillips name, but I
did not find Jacob. This is what is listed on that name in the index, Miss
Poundstone, Alice J. (Cummins) August H., Bessie, Emma Royle (Butterworth),
Euphemia (Gedney), Mrs. Frank L. (Jennings), Hattie, John, Mrs. John, Mary
(Thompson), Richards, Sarah (Fowler), & W. L. and Rev. John Phillips. The
parenthesis indicates a maiden name.
This is a long shot, but I also have a Jacob Phillips on my tree. His
father's name was Edwary and mother was Barbara Welsh, and they did live in
the Ottawa area.
The surnames that I'm researching are: Shaver, Lowman, Pike, Trout, Debolt,
and many others.
This is so funny because I just thought to help you out if I could and by
chance checked my family tree information, this would be a big coincidence
if it turns out that these Jacobs are the same.
Thanks
Sue (Shaver) Koller
