If your Irish relatives lived in Streator in the 1850's, you might request a
check on the church records on file at the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild in
Ottawa. The Guild has the records of the Church of Annunciation of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, "Eagle" for short. Eagle was/is an "Irish" church. The first
catholic church in Streator did not start until 1868, when a priest from the
larger town of Wenona would come to say Mass. I believe the priests from Eagle
(six miles west of Streator) orginially came from the Peru area.
