Interested in exchanging information about James J. McKernan, born in 1815 in Kentucky, who came to LaSalle Co. about 1828. James was Captain of Co. F., 104th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, during the Civil War. The town of Kernan was named for him. I have quite a bit of information about his military career and later life, but am interested in knowing more about his parents. He was married to Mary Cramer. James died in 1878 and is buried in the South Emery Green Cemetery at Streator. Would also like to locate a photo of James or of Co. F.
