I also had a problem finding a death certificate in Illinois my
gggrandfather was William McQuown he died in LaSalle County but we had no
date. He was buried in Riverview Cemetery but it had no dates on it. We
checked with the cemetery they also did not have any information. We tried
to find a death certificate none found finally Joan found an obituary under
the name M'Quown so we went back to Health Dept. for a death record with an
approx. date no record found not their fault. I finally got his death
certificate with his military record the spelling was wrong on the death
certificate it was spelled McGowin, we had check also for McGowan but I
guess the "in" really made the difference. So keep looking it is probably
the same problem the spelling. P.S. his military record was also under both
McGowin / McQuown.
