Greetings,
...from SDFP, Friday, Jan. 11, 1918
White Plague is Cause of Death
John G. Patton Stricken After Illness of a Short Duration.
John G. Patton, well know Streator man, died at his home 612 East
Bridge street, yesterday afternoon at 6 o'clock of tuberculosis, after
an illness of the past six months.
The deceased was born in Streator, October 9, 1879, and during his
early life he worked at the bottle blowers trade, but for the past
several years had been a bartender. He was united in marriage sixteen
years ago to Anna Frederick, who passed away nine months ago. Surviving
are three children---Clarence, John and Arthur. The deceased was a
member of Clan MacGregor and the Bottle Blowers union.
The funeral services will be held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2
o'clock, and the interment will be in made in Riverview cemetery.
I could not find his wife's obituary. Also, there was no reference to
where the children were living.
Also, Hugh Patton, aged 76 died in September of that year. Was Hugh the
father of John G.?
I couldn't get a look at his obituary, there was a power failure in the
downtown area.
I still have one more obituary to look up.
Joanie
