Actually, what you can find on the naturalization papers depends on time
frame as you say....but...we found naturalization papers in DeKalb for our
ggg grandparents who arrived in the U.S. in 1849... they came from
England...the form shows the date they sailed from Liverpool...the date they
arrived in New York...States that they were from Somerset...Carhampton...to
be exact...and this information confirmed old family stories about Somerset.

It's always worth a try to keep looking...
