YES! The Lewis Library at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana has
more material (books, maps, pamphlets, papers) relating to history of
Lawrence County than you can possibly go through in a day. There are
copies of family histories from people related to the area. The
clippings files are an extra treasure. Another valuable resource: the
microfilms of The Sumner Press, 1875 to present (I guess --- I read only
through 1940) You can borrow these microfilms through Inter Library Loan
between your library and the Illinois State History Library in
Springfield, IL. Write to the County Clerk and Recorder at the
courthouse in Lawrenceville, IL and ask for copies of marriage
certificates. These marriage certificates, from about 1880, anyway, list
the names of the parents of bride and groom and list the place of birth
of the bride and groom. I don't know what state you live in, but my
state history library in St. Paul, Minnesota, has a copy of the "History
of Edwards, Lawrence, and Wabash Counties" printed in 1880 or '83 (that
may not be the exact title) and it is full of history of early Christy
township and Sumner and Lawrence County. Maybe your state history
library also has a copy of this book. Good Luck! --- Sue Stine
