I agree with the majority. I have been reaching my ancestral lines for over
25 years. I have shared with many people over the years. Till this one
person ask for my information, put it in a book, did not give me credit for
anything and sold it for $30.00. He would go on message boards and sell
this book, well I would go on that same message board and offer the same
information for free. Eventually he stopped doing that. There is personal
information on me on a website and it is wrong information as well. Being a
veteran genealogist, if I do not know the person, I will tell them where the
information is, for example: on census records, I will tell them what roll,
page and line number. I remember the excitement when I found who I was
looking for.

By the way, I have to tell you if you have not been to Macoupin County for a
visit - make plans to. My husband's ancestors (Voyles, Sandner, Boyd,
Smith, Jubelt and Kessler) are from the Mt. Olive area, and when I go up
there you are literally walking back in time. I am called to that place. Of
all the places I have traveled doing research, Mt. Olive is the place I want
to go to more often. The Mt. Olive Library has so much to offer. If you go
into the outer room there you will see a portrait of E.W. Smith. This man
was one of the 5 killed in the Virden Riot and is laid to rest next to
Mother Jones.
