I always have a hard time picking just one ancestor to "showcase". I don't
want any of them to feel left out ya know. So, I am posting all of them all
at once. This is a run down of every family I am looking for in Macoupin.

March 10, 1920 in Carlinville, Macoupin Co., ILL.. He married MINNIE FRICKE
April 27, 1873 in Macoupin Co., ILL. She was born September 1850 in Germany,
and died November 1915 in Carlinville, Macoupin Co., ILL..

Notes for JOHN GOTTHARDT:

Fought in Germany, (Prussian Wars) had only known war from the time he could
hold a gun, deserted the German Army and walked to France and came to
America, and worked his way up the Mississippi River. Fought in the Civil
War with the Missouri Calvary. From 86 year old Cynthia Gooch Edward

John was a Private of Company E, 1st Regiment, MO Calvary. Enrolled Aug.
1st, 1861, St. Louis, MO for 3 years. Mustered in at Jefferson Barracks, MO
Sept. 6, 1861. Mustered out Sept. 17, 1864. Honorably Discharged.

I, G. W. Haake, Master of the Brem ship Reinhard do solemnly, sincerely, and
truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now
delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District
of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board
the said vessel at Bremen from which port said vessel has now arrived; and
that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation
of each said passenger, the part of vessel occupied by each during the
passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it
is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest
truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage,
and the names and ages of those who died. So help me God. (signed) W A
