John Samuel March born Feb 4 1847 in Cleavland County NC was the son of
John and Elizabeth (Warlick) March both natives of that county. John and
Elizabeth traveled with thier children to Smith County TN in 1850 and lived
until 1860 when they again moved, this time to Marion County Illinois.
Elizabeth died in 1878, and John died in 1884. They had five children:
Mary who married Thomas A. McNeilly, Margret who married David Whisnant,
Peter who married Virginia Hays, Elizabeth Jane who married John Watson,
and John S.
John Samuel married Harriett S. McColgin daughter of Hamilton and Ruth
(Morrison) McColgin of Tennessee. Who came to Illinois where they lived
then moving on to Newton Missouri where they died in 1902. John and Harriett
had nine children: Lillian E. who married Richard Fowler, 2. Laura Bell
who married George Mercer, her twin 3. Flora Jane who married Joseph Parkinson,
4. John W. who married Gertrude A. Hall, 5. Henry Franklin who married
Mable Hodges, 6. Mary A., 7 Minnie Ruth, 8 James Edgar married Gertrude
Pearl Morton.
