My 2nd great grandfather, Henry Dukes, married Sarah Jane Dies Burton in
Marion Co on Dec 27, 1864.

The marriage must have ended in divorce; I am not sure when.

I have recently learned that a daughter, Alice, was born to Sarah in 1865.
I am trying to determine whether she was Henry's daughter. She never went
by the name of Dukes, but mostly by the name of Burton, Sarah's first
husband, who was killed in the Civil War sixteen months earlier, I believe.
Sarah married twice more in Missouri.

Of course, no one, maybe even Sarah, can really know who Alice's father was,
but I'd like to know if Alice was assumed to be Henry's daughter. Henry
also married again.
