I have been looking for death certificates in Marion county for 1898, and
1877 and even 1959, with no luck. I was told that the county health
department holds many of the records and that there might be more success
there for some of the certificates I'm looking fir, but by and large, I have
not been able to find death certificates for that time period. The cemetery
information in the Marion County cemetery books is incorrect on several of
my family members, so you have to watch your sources very carefully,
especially where there are several individuals with the same name living in
the same town. Most of the family members I am looking for were buried in
the old Bethel Cemetery. I am trying to find out if the Presbyterian Church
ever stood there , and if anyone knows where their records may have gone.
If your family members where buried in a churchyard and you can find the
records, you may have more luck. Hope you have better luck than I did.
