I was going through some of the "obits" I have on family members in Marion
County. What I noticed was that the ones who died before WW II had their
funeral services either at home or at a organization(lodge) they belonged
to and then buried in the family cemetery. The only way I found a record
of their deaths/obits was to contact the local library or newspaper. I
also got a lot of help from the Marion County Genealogy Society
My grandmother, Mattie Boring Smith & my great-uncle, Frank Boring both had
funeral services(1949) at Queens-Boggs Funeral Services in Centralia and
were not buried in the family cemetry in Tonti (my father probably didn't
know there was one).
