Subject: [ILMASSAC] Please, I Need Cemetery Help
Date: Sat, 29 Apr 2000 23:31:20 EDT

I need more information about the Buzzards Roost Cemetery in Massac County.
It is also known as Old Hall Cemetery and Mt. Olive Cemetery.
The Massac County, Illinois Cemeteries Volume 2 gives the location but I
need
more details since I live in Indiana. I want to visit the cemetery very
soon so I
would appreciate a timely reply.
The cemetery book says from intersection of Hy 825N & 1900E, go 4/10 mile
east on Hy 825N. Then go up dirt road and it is on the left.
Where is highway 825N &1900E? I know the courthouse square in Metropolis,
so which way do I go from there? Please try to make the directions as easy
as
possible. Is the cemetery on private property? Am I allowed access to the
cemetery? Do I have to get permission to enter the cemetery first?
Where do I pick up the dirt road at? About how far from Metropolis
is the cemetery located?
Has anyone been to this cemetery other than the two researchers that
performed the transcribing of the cemetery? What is the condition of the
cemetery?
Are there any dangers going into this cemetery such as snakes?
My ancestors, John H. STUCKER and his wife, Elizabeth M. STUCKER are buried
there. I assume there are tombstones for both of them. The book did not say
otherwise. Does anyone recall that has been there seen the markers for
John H. and Elizabeth M. STUCKER? Is there a county highway map available
that I could buy that would show the cemetery locations and the highway
numbers
such as 825N and 1900E? Would the County Highway Dept. or the Chamber of
Commerce have such a map available for sale? Please let me know.
I will look forward to hearing from anyone very soon.

Thank you for your cooperation.
