Subject: [ILMCDONO] Eli Elwell and Earl Wilson
Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2001 18:09:15 EDT
By tracking back through various census records, I have managed to find my
ggg grandfather Eli Elwell. While reading the History of McDonough County on
the web site, I noticed a piece about him. It was under New Salem Township,
McDonough County, Illinois. In the piece (unsure of when or who wrote it) it
referred to sketch of Eli Elwell, but there was not a sketch there. Does
anyone know of a sketch or where it may be found? I also found him the
Illinois Roll of Honor for the Civil War. I would dearly love to find this
picture or sketch. The only grandparent I was able to know was my paternal
grandmother, Mary Maude Elwell Wilson. Which leads me my next problem.
Although, I have managed to trace my grandmother's line back to Eli, I cannot
seem to find a trace of her husband Earl Wilson. He was born in 1887 in
Illinois, a farmer and he and my grandmother, Mary Maude, born 1888, was
living in Adair, Illinois when my father was born in 1913. Also, he died soon
after my father, Marshall was born. That is sum of my knowledge about him.
Sadly, I do not have the 1900, 1910, or 1920 census records to check them
out. If anyone has these, I would gladly pay for your time and expense for
checking them out. Boy, it seems like the Wilson's go back quite far back in
McDonough history and there are so many!
Thank you
Marsha Wilson Pruitt
