Did your friend check out other departments like Probate? Sometimes it doesn't necessarily have to be that individual's will that only gets included in those files. i.e. Say an uncle dies and his personal effects go in with his probated will, well then there might be some mention of other members of this persons family included there.
If you send me all the names and the dates you have the next time I'm out there doing my own research I can do a quick look see.
