About the only way you could probably find something like that out would be
to access the microfilmed newspapers of that period. But you'd have to
narrow it down a bit, as most of those films only cover about a month or two
each and it takes like forever to get through one of em. The museum in
Mercer County only has one machine and you have to almost have a reserved
time to get some time on it. But maybe if you called or wrote them they
could do a look up for you when the machine is free. It's called Easly-Noble
and it's in Aledo Illinois. The Rock Island Library has a large library of
such film as well from surrounding area papers so you might try with their
reference librarian too.
Personally I haven't had that much luck getting on one of those machine out
in Aledo. Just seems when I've got free time they don't. :( The Times
Record might still have some of their old files on film as well and they're
still located in Aledo so that's a third source maybe. Good luck.
