Hello Sharon---I haven't come across such records for Montgomery CO but I have
for other counties, mid-nineteenth century, so they may exist for
Montgomery---what I mean is, records for orphaned children who were "bound" as
apprentices or what seems to have been something like indentured servants. It
seems that when children were orphaned then, if they didn't have family members or
other people who stepped in as guardians, they often were "bound out" to a person
who gave them room and board and (supposedly) trained them in a trade or domestic
work (and probably got a good deal of work out of them too). As you are
searching, you might look for apprentice records too. Another avenue to
investigate. Good luck, Nora Tocus
