My g-g-g-father, Alfred N. Blaylock, built and was the first pastor of the
Sorento Baptist Church from the time it was organized in 1905 until his death
in 1910.

In 1835, The Mount Nebo Baptist Church was built in Ripley Precinct. Rev.
Peter served as its pastor for over forty years. The first church was
constructed of hewn logs. It was replaced by a frame house in 1850, which
was destroyed by fire in 1852. It was rebuilt and was still standing in
1882. No other churches were built in Ripley Precinct until 1882. [Ref:
History of Bond and Montgomery Counties, Illinois, 1882, page 181].
